Tibyan Mohamed Ali

Tibyan is a pharmacist and a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Khartoum, Sudan.  She is studying for the MSc in Pharmacology at the University of Oxford. Tibyan is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx scholar and is a member of Balliol College.

Before coming to Oxford, Tibyan worked as a pharmacist at Jaafer Ibn Oaf Hospital as part of the Gaucher disease team, where she was responsible for dispensing and delivering Enzyme replacement therapy for children. While working at the University of Khartoum, she participated in various research projects that focused on the pharmacological activities of different herbal remedies. Additionally, she worked with the Institute of Endemic Diseases on a project targeting leishmaniasis.

Tibyan is passionate about finding solutions for healthcare challenges like cancer through research and innovation. She is interested in investigating the role of exosomes in infectious and non-infectious diseases and their potential use as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool. 

After finishing her studies at Oxford, she plans to continue building collaborations with local, regional, and global research institutes and translate her research outcomes to secure more medications across Sudan and the African continent. She also plans to continue working at the University of Khartoum, where she will use her education and leadership training to train her students. Her aim is to enhance the competencies of her students, thereby providing the healthcare system with qualified professionals.
