Nashwa Mohammed

Nashwa Mohammed is pursuing a Master’s in International Health and Tropical Medicine at the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar from Sudan and a member of Hertford College.

Nashwa is the founder of Fadfada, a startup for online therapy that decentralises mental health services in Sudan by offering remote therapy and raising awareness through social media. Her work focuses on bridging the gender gap in the workforce by partnering primarily with female psychologists. Through collaborations with local and international organisations, including the World Health Organization, Fadfada provides therapy to survivors of violence during the Sudanese revolution and ongoing conflicts, positioning itself as a leading mental health provider in Sudan and among the Sudanese diaspora.

Nashwa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery from the University of Khartoum, where she graduated with distinction and received an award for her top academic performance in her fourth year. She is also a certified positive psychology coach through the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and a passionate advocate for mental health, youth empowerment, and social entrepreneurship.

After completing her studies at Oxford, Nashwa plans to use evidence-based approaches to combat mental health stigma and develop culturally sensitive interventions. She aims to leverage technology to transform mental health services in Sudan, across Africa, and globally.
