Mohamed Abdiaziz Muse

Mohamed Abdiaziz Muse is pursuing an MSc in African Studies at the Centre for African Studies, University of Oxford. He is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar and a member of St Antony’s College.

Mohamed is an international development and financial governance practitioner with more than a decade of experience across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. His career includes roles in international NGOs, government organisations, think tanks, and educational institutions in countries such as Somalia, Turkey, Senegal, Nigeria, and the Netherlands.

In addition to his extensive professional background, Mohamed has a strong academic and research profile. He has worked as a graduate research and teaching assistant, as well as a tutor in Development and Security Studies, and has presented his research at international conferences. His research interests include the political economy of mobile money platforms, anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism regulations, remittances, and diaspora-state relations in Sub-Saharan Africa. Mohamed aims to specialise in African politics as an academic.

He holds an MA in Development Studies with Merit, focusing on Governance and Development Policies, and a BA in Community Development with First-Class Honours.
