Julie Ojiambo

Julie Ojiambo is pursuing a Master's in Diplomatic Studies at the Department of Continuing Education, University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar and a member of Linacre College.

Before joining Oxford, Julie worked as a Political Participation Analyst at the United Nations Women East and Southern Africa Regional Office, where she focused on governance and women's political participation. She was also part of the inaugural cohort of the United Nations Development Programme African Young Women Leaders Fellowship Programme, representing Kenya.

Julie has made significant contributions, including conducting gender assessments for the Kenyan General Election and women’s land rights, as well as writing articles on youth and women’s issues in Africa. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys travelling, baking, and collecting African fashion.

Julie holds a Master’s in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford and an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the City University of New York, Hunter College.

After completing her studies at Oxford, she plans to influence governance programmes and policies at regional and international levels. Her interests include politics, governance, human rights, and diplomacy, with a focus on Africa’s place in a globalized world. Julie is passionate about empowering Africa’s youth, women, and girls, and has collaborated with organizations such as the United Nations Population Fund and the African Union Commission.
