Joseph Mwaka

Joseph is a medical doctor and a specialist experienced in responding to epidemic-prone diseases. Joseph is studying for the MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine at the University of Oxford. Joseph is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar and a member of Corpus Christi College. 

Joseph earned a Master's degree in Vaccinology from the University of Siena, Italy, and a Master's degree in Public Health from Cavendish University, Uganda. He also holds Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from Gulu University, Uganda.

Joseph was the case manager for infectious diseases at the Bidibidi Refugee Settlement in Northern Uganda. Before that, he was a physician assistant at St. Mary's Hospital Lacor in the same region. 

His ultimate aspiration is to enhance the capabilities of countries in combating infectious diseases once he completes his studies. He envisions himself playing a pivotal role in devising innovative solutions to address the challenges of infectious diseases faced by countries in the Global South.
