Engy Mohsen

Engy Mohsen is an artist and curator pursuing an MSc in Modern Middle Eastern Studies at the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx scholar and a member of Magdalen College.

Mohsen has co-authored and co-edited several works, including Machi Mashy: What if it Works? (2023), K-oh-llective: Texts on Paper (2023), Machi Mashy: Or, In Other Words Not Working (2022), Notes on Collaboration (2021), and Chatrooms: On Curating Spaces (2020).

She has been an artist-in-residence at the Singapore Art Museum, Cittadellarte - Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella, Art Omi in New York, and Rote Fabrik in Zürich. Mohsen has received various artistic production grants, including the AFAC Visual Arts Grant, Mophradat Grants for Artists, A M Qattan Foundation Flourishing Field Grant, Pro Helvetia Parallel Sphere, 421 Project Revival Fund, and the Art Jameel Research and Practice Grant.

Mohsen holds a master's degree in Transdisciplinary Studies in the Arts from Zürich University of the Arts and a joint bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urban Design from the German University in Cairo and the Brandenburg University of Technology. She has been awarded scholarships including the Fondation ZHdK Excellence Scholarship and the Al Alfi Foundation Postgraduate Fellowship.

After completing her studies at Oxford, Mohsen aims to contribute to contemporary arts and cultural studies in the Arab region through research, writing, and teaching. She is committed to fostering a diverse and dynamic learning environment that encourages exploration and innovation in the field.
