
Biraanu Gammachu Feyissa
Biraanu Gammachu Feyissa is pursuing an MSc in African Studies at the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, University of Oxford. He is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar and member of St Antony’s College.
Before joining Oxford, Biraanu worked as a Research Consultant, including a role as a Research Analyst at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in Nairobi. He led a significant case study on conflict prevention budgets for a collaborative project between the Africa Peace and Security Programme and King’s College London. Biraanu has also contributed to several academic conferences and co-authored a training manual on peacebuilding with the Intergovernmental Authority on Development(IGAD) and Ethiopia’s Ministry of Peace.
He holds a BA in Development Studies from Bugema University and an MA in Peace and Security Studies from Addis Ababa University.
After completing his studies at Oxford, Biraanu intends to pursue a doctoral project focusing on political violence and regional security in the Horn of Africa. His goal is to contribute to stability and peace in Ethiopia and the broader region through continued research and consultancy.
