Professor Lucie Cluver appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE)

Professor Lucie Cluver, who sits on the Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) Steering Committee has been appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to Children’s Wellbeing and Global Public Health. She is Professor of Child and Family Social Work, Department of Social Policy & Intervention and a Professorial Fellow at Nuffield College.
Professor Cluver works closely with the South African government, UNICEF, UNDP, USAID-PEPFAR, UNODC, the World Health Organisation and other international agencies, to provide evidence that can improve the lives of children and adolescents in sub-Saharan Africa.
She said: ‘As an African citizen in our beautiful Oxford University, I’m incredibly lucky to have been part of the Africa Oxford Initiative over the past eight years, to see the team win the Vice-Chancellor’s Award, and to celebrate the success of AfOx in supporting the next generations of outstanding African students to our University’
